soils

The soils of the valleys are from alluvial / colluvial origin, being them the result of the action of intermittent rivers in the area, wind erosion and collluvial falls from the surrounding mountain ranges.

In general, they are non-saline low-sodium soils, accurate for the cultivation of different kinds of crops. Regarding textures, most of them are from sandy loam to loam and do not present obstacles for they are highly permeable. They are alkaline soils (PH 8) because of calcium in their combination, (calcium sulphate mainly). Since their texture is relatively thick, soils present a normal drainage, without limitations to radicle development. In general, they are soils poor in organic matter, nitrogen, phosphor, though rich in potassium and calcium.
